Al is a Charter Life member of the American Motorcyclist Association. Eventually there will be more stories and photos from the past. Here are some recent adventures.

Ancient History (under construction!)

Al began riding at age 13 in 1972 in Western Nebraska on a 1970 Kawasaki G3SS. He moved to Buffalo, New York soon after. He joined American Motorcyclist Association and began racing motocross in late 1973. He is a Charter Life member. He took MX schools from Gary Bailey and Frank Stacey. In 1975 he bought s 1975 Bultaco Pursang 125 MK VIII. In 1976 he began racing hare scrambles. In 1977 he also did some SCORE off road racing as well and also took a try at road racing. He also got a street bike in 1977, a 1977 French Blue Yamaha RD400D. Rode 8,000 miles in 6 months. He took it to Houston and back in August 1978. In 1978 he got a Yamaha YZ125E and continued MX, Hare Scrambles and SCORE. In 1979 he moved to Houston, Texas. After a break for University, he began racing again, this time a 1986 Yamaha IT200 in Hare Scrambles and Enduro. In 1988 he upgraded to an ATK 250.

After getting married in 1990, gradually got out of riding for a while and sold the last bike in 1997 when he moved with the family to West Des Moines, Iowa. He is now riding 1975 BMW R90/6..
